Luckily, the delicious breakfast and piping hot coffee was on the menu for today: toasted local bakery bread spread with peanut butter, Greek yogurt with granola, and delicious fresh ground coffee. The perfect fuel for our Super Sunday. I say Super Sunday because both Joe and I had very big workouts on the calendar today.
For Joe, it consisted of a long bike with some of the hardest intervals and highest wattage he has had to push so far this year.
Joe's summary of his bike: Trainer ride, ugh. Getting pretty anxious to get outside and test my bike strength in a race. Show of choice this trainer ride was Breaking Bad.
For me, it included the longest run and swim post-surgery. The surgery topic will be discussed in another post, let's not get derailed.
6 mile run ☑!
So excited to be back at that distance, and so excited to be feeling strong the entire time. It has been a long time coming, almost 7 months to the day from surgery. Going from not being able to walk, to running 6 miles and prepping for race season is such an exhilarating feeling. Now all I need to do is get that hair under control...
We are so lucky to live where we do, and be privy to the routes we run. We live just south of farm lands and nature preserves. I love passing the horses! Sometimes you are lucky and they come right up to the fencing.
The perfect route to find answers to your questions. As the saying goes, if you can't figure out your problems after a 20 mile run... you never will.
The golf course always looks so idyllic with it's perfectly groomed grounds and rolling hills.
Spotted with one or two ponds, perfect for red-winged blackbirds!
Then topped off the workout with a ladder swim! 2900 yards, with 1800 yds of just swimming. No paddle or buoy. Longest swim without assistance...yet! Can't wait to be back out in the lake, and not constantly fighting chlorine damage.
I came home to find someone cooking away in the kitchen! How lucky am I to have such an amazing chef?
Joe's meal prep station.
So excited to try out all the new delicious dishes! Joe has a serious knack for making up recipes, and having them turn out quite tastily. Such a big day, and so thankful to spend it with my husband and training partner.
