Don't Decrease the Goal. Increase the Effort. EA - GearWest Duathlon Race Report

I'M BAAACK! First post-surgery race - CHECK! A couple goals and dreams were met today for me, and I wouldn't have been able to have accomplished them without my support crew backing me every step of the way. I owe my ability to run the GearWest Du to my unbelievable support crew: husband - Joe, family, coach, friends, medical team, and GearWest Team for the unwavering support in getting me back into multisport racing. No one on my support crew has ever questioned my ability to recover, to begin multisport racing less than a year out of hip surgery, and for that I'm eternally appreciative.

Goal: Start the 2017 multisport season. Check. Even if I wasn't able to take the reins off on the run and let it rip, I was still able to be out there on the course; which is more than I thought possible back in October when my team was working on getting me walking again.

Dream: Being a member of the GearWest Team. I'm humbled and honored to be apart of the Team this year, which has been a dream of mine since I started watching my dad complete triathlons. If you haven't heard, GearWest is an amazing local tri shop with an incredible staff that treat you like family. I am so excited to representing them and being apart of their team this year.
Jacket: GearWest Castelli (jacket not offered online, but is offered in the store) Tri Suit c/o: GearWest Tri Suit Socks: SmartWool Shoes: Brooks Glycerin Sunglasses: Oakley Prizm Road

Goal: Get my best friend to do multisport racing with me! So fun to see her and her husband out on the course and to celebrate with them after we all finished.

All in all - a very successful day! Managed to complete the course, had a great time, cheered for fellow racers, and came home with some hardware - the whole crew did! I can still remember the days when I prayed for what I have now. The ability to run, and to bike will always be something I cherish and I'm looking forward to continuing to celebrate it.
